social and community theatre

AjaRiot – Performing Arts Collective is an artistic and multidisciplinary ensemble born from an investigation and a reflection perspective on contemporary themes.

We hold theatrical and artistic workshops for organisations, schools and universities, on several topics such as multi-cultural education and intercultural dialogue, anti-discrimination and awareness of violence against women and gender studies; we create and coordinate social and community projects; events of participatory art, performances and flash mob aimed to develop solidarity and promote tolerance, the respect for cultural diversity against all forms of discrimination on grounds of gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability or sexual orientation.

Our cultural policy is to create performances, artistic interventions, workshops, conferences and events that can facilitate participation and dialogue while building bridges of communication in local communities and facilitating several exchanges with institutions at international level.

We held workshops for groups, associations and cooperatives, with children, students, people with disabilities, women victims of violence, refugees, teachers, prisoners, educators and trainers.

A J A R I O T

We are a group of artists, performers, directors, dancers, activists, video makers, scholars and organisers. We are mixed in nationality, background, age, experiences and practices. Research, transdisciplinarity and the theme of self-determination are our common cornerstones. Through them, we explore the relationship between body and visual images, its intersections, its active potentialities. It is an open poetic process: a continuous work in progress. Which welcomes disparities and does not aim at unifying. It loves differences.
